Unnecessary Hostnames within Syslog Message Body
Issue Description
Syslog message text contains network names (in brackets). The correct behavior supposes inserting network names in brackets only after the IP address. However, the error leads to appearing the names not only in incorrect places, but also in messages that do not contain an IP address.
Affected Versions
Syslog Watcher 4.2.0 – 4.2.8
Solution
- Update Syslog Watcher to version 4.2.9 or later.
- Check up and correct syslog storage.
Syslog Storage
Note: The actions are performed on the computer where Syslog Watcher server is installed.
- Download Syslog Watcher Storage Checker: http://www.snmpsoft.com/downloads/SWStorageCheck.exe
The program does not require installation. - Stop Syslog Watcher service and close Syslog Watcher GUI (client).
- Run Storage Checker; or Run Storage Checker as Administrator (for Windows Vista and later).

- Make sure that the application recognizes the storage location correctly; modify if needed.
- Select Test Case 1 and click the Run button. The process can take some time; please be patient.
- Review the results.
- Restart the service again and restart the client if needed.
